Have you ever heard of the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and Foreign Relations Authorization Act in 1987? In a nutshell, these acts make it illegal for the government to spread propaganda (lies) in order to further an agenda.
Sounds pretty crazy, doesn't it?
Well, no worries. Some jackasses in Congress want to lift that ban and make it legal for the government to lie to us.
'Cause it's not like they don't already do that. (*cough*WMDs in Iraq*cough*)
